MEDICAL TREATMENT
The primary focus of workers’ compensation is to ensure that injured workers receive the necessary medical treatment to recover from their injuries and return to work. Workers’ compensation covers the cost of necessary medical treatment related to the work-related injury or illness. This includes doctor visits, hospitalization, surgeries, medications, physical therapy, and rehabilitation services. In regard to medical treatment, problems sometimes occur when employers do not refer injured workers to medical providers on a timely basis (or at all) or when medical providers are not listening to the complaints of injured workers. This might mean that the injured worker in question, might need to seek legal counsel.
